Happy Anniversary to Me!

Today is my 20th Wedding Anniversary! Funny, 'cause I sure don't feel old enough to have been married for that long, but apparently I have! So, a card for my husband, perhaps?

Before you look at this card and wonder why I went to so little trouble for someone I've been married to for 20 years, you might want to read this post here about my philosophy on making cards for men who don't really appreciate the finer details of our craft.

Don't worry, I'll wait . . .

You're back?  OK, here's the card:

I had intended to use the Retro Sketches sketch suggested at the CKC, but the lightbulb was just too big, so I ended up keeping it really simple.  If I get a chance before our anniversary dinner tonight, I think I might colour the lightbulb in a bit brighter though!

While I was in card-making mode, it's time for a Thank Your card.  Here's that sketch . . .

Well, I sort of used it, anyway!

All cardstock and papers plus the vellum speech bubble are from this month's Counterfeit Kit.
Thanks for visiting!

A quick card with Retro Sketches

With a couple of birthdays this month I wanted to make some cards.  But while I am working, I don't have a lot of time to sit in the craft room and play . . . thank heaven for sketch websites!  Sometimes it's fun to play around with a sketch and add to it or stretch it a bit, but when you're busy . . . that's right! . . . it's OK to embrace your literallness and let the sketch do most of the work.

Here's the sketch from Retro Sketches that I used:

And here's my card:

Yes, I was that lazy! I not only used the butterfly, but even the button!
But my message today is this:  not everything you create has to be an award-winning, unique piece of art!  I would rather whip up a quick card like this, knowing it will still be appreciated by the recipient than to try and spend hours I don't have on a masterpiece (or, worse still, buy a card! LOL!)

Until next time, happy creating!

P.S. for my "product challenge to self" I get a point for once again using fibres, and a bonus point for using coloured embossing powder - I don't think I have touched that stuff since I bought it for Christmas cards I don't know how many years ago!

Thank you - ColourQ and Retro Sketches

Last weekend, 3 of the young women from our church and a couple (with their 4 young children!) took our youth group to Katoomba for a Youth convention.  Wow!  And guess who's been asked to provide a thankyou card for each of them?

What a chance to play with some challenges I rarely get to have a go at!

I started with an old favourite of mine, ColourQ, with this lovely mix of colours here:

and combined it with their sister sketch challenge, Retro Sketches . . .

Here's my card:

Is it possible to get bored of butterflies . . . I don't think so!
